Beads of courage event at the Lorton Workhouse Arts Center, Virginia Firebirds, lampwork
Quarterly meeting at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton Virginia, Lampwork glass, recognized chapter of the International Society of Glass Beadmakers, ISGB

The Virginia Firebirds is a chapter of the International Society of Glass Bead Makers (ISGB) in Northern Virginia.  The group was founded in 2011 with a group of like-minded glass enthusiasts from Virginia and Maryland.  Thanks to the wonders of technology, the Firebirds have over 60 members from around the world.  We meet at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia.

With a commitment to foster lampworking skill, we have hosted internationally known artists for in-person workshops. We sponsor monthly online demonstrations from well-known glass and metal artists, including some very talented members in our group.  We also offer technology skills workshops to improve our ability to sell and interact online.

We meet quarterly, sharing knowledge, hosting demonstrations and challenges.  Before the Pandemic, the Firebirds always had bead swaps as part of our quarterly meetings. Now we have expanded our activities to include bead swaps and challenges for all members, using the postal system to "swap."  We proudly support Beads of Courage, collecting donation beads quarterly and hosting events.
